This past Wednesday I passed my Acquia Drupal 8 Site Builder exam; hooray!!
My experience of the exam:
The questions were very scenario based, and some times required a good re-read several times to make sure I knew what was being asked design wise. For this reason, your actual site building experience is going to be invaluable for this exam; reading up on the documentation obviously helps but your day to day experiences of managing, designing and building sites is really what you need to be able to answer some of the questions.
Though a lot of the learning regarding Drupal 7 is transferable, there are Drupal 8 specific questions, so you're going to need to know the ins and outs of 8.
Accessing the exam was a bit of a faff. Before you enter the exam you need to complete a biometric profile so that the invigilators in the US know you're who you say you are. This includes a keystroke assessment that aims to create a profile based on how you type - but in my experience isn't very accurate. When entering the exam you get three chances to pass the keystroke pattern test bit before the software closes and has to be restarted. My advise is to have the help chat for the Kryterion online testing software to hand when you're starting the exam so that if you get stuck with this someone can help you. They will reschedule the exam for you so that you can start it slightly later (I guess there is some wriggle room scheduled in to exam time because of the likelihood of technical issues related to software.). Main thing is - don't panic, it'll get sorted :)
I really forgot that someone was invigilating via webcam which was good as I was worried about that making me feel on edge! I didn't hear them at all so I guess my webcam and microphone were set up correctly.
Break down of results:
Overall Score: 74.00%
Topic Level Scoring:
Section 1: Understanding Drupal: 66.66%
Section 2: Working with a Drupal Site : 80.00%
Section 3: Content Modeling : 66.66%
Section 4: Site Display: 83.33%
Section 5: Site Configuration: 42.85%
Section 6: Community and Contributed Projects: 100.00%
Section 7: Module and Theme management: 75.00%
Section 8: Security & Performance: 100.00%
This is quite useful - I know I need to improve my knowledge regarding config as this isn't something I'm as experienced at through work, and is very different in Drupal 8, so I'm not suprising this was my weakest module. Hopefully I can improve here.
