Gulp shadowing with Nigel - I am still having issues with ddev and gulp. There seems to be difficulty getting this set up and working, possibly because of issues with npm / node dependencies.... keep coming across the same issues.

Here's what we tried on Thursday:

Setting up Gulp and Sass for LPN site theming

Submitted by Nicolabell on Sun, 06/02/2019 - 13:36

Today I am trying to get Gulp to watch my sass changes for the LPN development environment, so that I can start branching theme changes and push them to our remote repo on Github.

I'm following Nigel's instructions re. Gulp at http://178.128.162.13/oyster/node/875

1. I used ddev describe to get the port

2. used sudo nano on gulpfile.js but I couldn't see which line 30 was so opened this up in Visual Studio Code which gave me the line numbers. Pasted the post in here:

Could not connect to docker. Please ensure Docker is installed and running.

If a project container is still appearing in ddev list with a status of 'app directory missing' is there any way to delete the container?

Answer: Ddev rm -a or ddev rm project or docker rmOrigina

Permissions might not be set correctly for the directory?

I think in ddev I possibly hadn’t specificed ‘drupal8’ when doing ddev config, so just went through config again.

Installing Sass and troubleshooting some issues.

Today I am learning about Sass via the Treehouse platform. Sass (Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets) is a CSS extension language which is used within the framework of a website to make the CSS more efficient and maintainable.

The Sass library needs to be installed locally on your machine. It is a 'Ruby gem' so requires a local installation of Ruby too - I followed the instructions here.

I then used terminal on my machine to install Sass using the command line

gem install sass --pre
